Jack's Family: June 24, 2007

This post is late for the summer solstice (which was June 21) but it is our ode to the sunny season that makes us forget how utterly miserable Michigan is in the winter.

Though it wasn't quite summer when we returned from Thailand on May 25, we considered it the beginning of our summer adventures (and a lot of summer work in Chad's case). We suffered through a few days of really miserable jet lag, but then we (again, Jack and I only-Chad continues to slave away at his dissertation) were back to fun in the sun. Jack and I left for Utah to see my family and to hang out with a bunch of my high school girlfriends for a little reunion. What a great trip! Jack got to hang out with his adorable cousin Lucy, and of course his Nana and Papa. The weather was perfect and we took lots of walks. The reunion with my girlfriends was so, so much fun. I hadn't seen some of my friends in probably eight years, but it felt like it had been just a few months. I have to admit that I'd forgotten how amazing these women are! I loved hearing about everyone's kids, professional skiing adventures (Andria is living the dream for the rest of us), jobs, struggles, triumphs, and testimonies of the gospel through it all. It was so positive and uplifting and I can't wait to see everyone again next summer! My friend Natalee has a little boy, Ozzie, who was born just four days before Jack. They had fun starting at each other and I was happy not to have the only baby tagging along. As always, Jack was a trooper through long shopping trips, late night dinners and unfamiliar sleeping areas. He is a born traveler!

Other highlights: 1) Lots of amazing food at my parents; 2) a GREAT dinner with our good friends Matt and Anna who will have a baby boy whose name cannot be revealed (because they won't tell anyone) in a few months; 3) hanging out at Molly's Park City condo and taking Jack and Lucy to a beautiful park to play on the swing set; 4) seeing Grandpa Larson at the airport; 5) visiting Uncle Taylor, Aunt Emilie and Cousin Bailey; and 5) seeing Grandma Larson and Aunt Kelli in Provo.
